Therapy for Cerebral Palsy

History and Founding of BABTT

Therapy for cerebral palsy plays a crucial role in supporting children, young people, and adults living with movement and functional impairments caused by central nervous system lesions. At the British Association of Bobath Trained Therapists (BABTT), we understand how essential effective neurological rehabilitation is for improving quality of life.

Founded in 1988 by Jenny Bryce, BABTT emerged from a desire to create a professional network and forum that would serve Bobath-trained therapists across the UK and Ireland.

Transforming Neurorehabilitation with the Bobath Approach

Our association was established to further develop, support, and uphold the principles of the Bobath Concept, also referred to as neurodevelopmental treatment, highlighting postural control and movement challenges experienced by children with cerebral palsy and related neurological conditions.

By forming BABTT, we have enabled healthcare professionals to share expertise, remain informed about new approaches to therapy for cerebral palsy, and sustain excellence in clinical standards. With members located throughout the UK and Ireland, BABTT has grown into a respected neurological rehabilitation association dedicated to education, research, and clinical leadership in the field of Bobath therapy in the UK.
